RAID MTB 5 stages/4 nights

Date: 5th to the 9th May, 2008

Starting from the French Basque Country and arriving in the Spanish Bardenas Desert

This tour is proposed to you in collaboration with Jean Luc, the Basque Country Mountain Bike expert. You will discover a beauty spote unique in Europe.

Depaysement guaranteed : Barrancos, plains, cirques and plateaus. Truly incredible !!!



Sporting Tour  / Stages on line / 60km per day / 1200m change in altitude per day

 

The Day before departure:  Reception and presentation of the Circuit on your arrival in the village of Louhossoa at about 17h00. An initiation to "PELOTE BASQUE" will be proposed to you in the Trinquet from 17h30 until 19h00

1^st stage: Mount BAIGURA
We start from the village of Louhossoa near the outdoor pursuits centre of Baigura. A motorized shuttle will transport you to the top of the site before begining the MTB descent in the direction of the village of Bidarray and then Spain. Arrival at Eratxu, a small village in Navarra.

2^nd stage: The Pyrenees Navarrese
A Difficult stage, to reach the village of Burguette, at the foot of the "col de Roncevaux".

3^rd stage: Foz de Lumbier
This stage takes place at the east of PAMPELUNE (Capital of Navarre where the famous Festivals of San Fermin take place with the "Incierro": bulls are released in the streets of the city) following the Rio and the ridge with its impressive aoliens. Arrival at Lumbier and its Foz.

4^th stage: Rio Aragon

Radical change of landscape during this stage between the departure from Lumbier and the arrival at the beginning of the Bardenas Reales Desert. The Rio Aragon.

5^th stage: The desert of Bardenas Reales
Discovery of this site, exceptional in Europe: the desert of Bardenas Reales. Arrival at Arguedas.
Return to the departure point of Louhosoa in the minibus.

- Lodging in half-board at the hotel "Trinquet de Louhossoa" Friday May 9: 50 €
